Langplaas Family Farm, North west
Carrot & Beetroot Washing, Sorting and Packing Lines
The scope of work included the design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of two motor control centres (MCC) for the Carrot & Beetroot washing and sorting machine packing lines. Each MCC was equipped with a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) which allowed for flexible and automated operations. The 40 Direct-Online (DOL) motors starters were equipped with TeSys U motor starters that were linked to the PLCs using communication providing reliable and effective control. Schneider Electric Altivar Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) communicate with the PLCs using Ethernet to control the speed of conveyors and read diagnostic information to ease fault finding.
Advanced control features were provided in the control system to master the agriculture sorting, washing, receiving, together with other machinery used to seamlessly increase the packing and production of the carrot and beetroot packing house.
1 600 Amp Generator Changeover Panel

The scope of work included the design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of a 1600Amp changeover panel to integrate two 500 kVA diesel generators. The panel was also equipped with a synchronization controller for the Generators to allow for future peak shaving and load sharing functions.

Sweet Potato Sorting and Packing Line
The scope of work included the design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of the main distribution panel (MDB) and motor control centres (MCC) for a new 25 ton/hour Sweet Potato sorting and packing line. The state-of-the-art packing line manufactured by USA based Exeter engineering firm also had a 6 Lane Accuvision Sizer that fed 10 Accu-Fill Automatic Weight Filler Carton Chain Conveyor lines and a carton conveyance system.
This advanced packing line consisted of 108 motors of which 36 were Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) and 67 were Direct-Online (DOL) starters. The Schneider Electric EcoStruxture solution consisted of M241 PLCs, Megalis HMI’s, Altivar VSD’s and TeSys Island intelligent motor starters. The fully integrated solution enabled faster commissioning, increased availability and more efficient control.
Duplonix Electrical also provided an HTML web-based Supervisory, Control and Data Acquisitioning (SCADA) system for remote monitoring of the complete packing line with live motor status and alarm monitoring.
Eugene Marais Hospital, Pretoria
Hospital 90 kVA Generator Installation
The scope of work included the installation, testing, and commissioning of a 90kVA Cummins diesel generator at Eugene Marais Hospital. The scope also included all electrical low voltage cable installation work.
Danie Malan Primary School, Pretoria
Generator and PV Solar Project
The scope of work included the supply of one 100 kVA diesel generator and design, manufacture, supply, install and commissioning of a custom changeover panel for load shedding control functionality. The project included the design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of the changeover panel to integrate one 100 kVA generator. The project also included integrating a 50 kWp grid-tie hybrid PV solar system with a 10 kWh battery system for essential computer and server equipment. The changeover panel has been equipped with an HMI and PLC to implement load shedding scheduling.
Eugene Marais Hospital, Pretoria
Eugene Marais Hospital ICU Electrical Upgrade
The projects consisted of the electrical installation for new Hutz ICU pendants in the Eugene Marais Hospital intensive care unit (ICU). Each Hutz ICU pendant electrical power was supplied by two separate electrical circuits for redundancy for this mission-critical equipment. A Strike ISOLOC unit was provided for each circuit to ensure personnel safety in the event of a short circuit. The scope included the supply and installation of new circuit breakers in the Isoloc distribution board.

Sidebar Filter Press Project
The scope of work included the design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of the motor control centres (MCC) for a Sidebar Filter Press used for pressing water from slurry on a mining site. The MCC was equipped with a Schneider Electric PLC to provide for automatic control of the press plates and associated equipment. The Sidebar Filter Press was restored by Aquathane, and Duplonix Electrical was tasked to develop the software from the control narrative provided and re-engineer the sidebar filter press operation.

Tipper Machine Project
The scope of work included the design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of the Tipper machine motor control centre (MCC) equipped with a PLC, HMI and motor starters. The project also included the PLC and HMI software design, development and commissioning. The Tipper machine is used to empty 1-ton crates onto a vegetable sorting line and is equipped with a carton conveyance conveyor system.

Monument Park Reservoir and Pump Station Upgrade
The scope of work included the upgrade of the Monument Park reservoir booster pump station PLC panel in the existing motor control centre (MCC) to autonomously control the pump station. The motor starter control circuits were modified to allow for automatic and local selection. Local indication lights were provided on the MCC to visualize the equipment statuses and pushbuttons were provided to allow operators to control the plant. The project also included wireless radio communication equipment at the pump station and reservoir for level measurement.

Cornwall Hill Pump Station Upgrade
The scope of work for the upgrade of the Cornwall Hill pump station included the design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of the motor control centre (MCC) equipped with a programmable logic controller (PLC) to allow for autonomous control of the pump station. The scope of work also included the PLC software design, development, testing and commissioning. Provision was made to interface with the City of Tshwane central Supervisory, Control and Data Acquisitioning (SCADA) system through the remote terminal unit (RTU) and radio telemetry network.

Power Factor Correction Project
The scope of work included the design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of a power factor correction (PFC) panel. The 137.5 kVA PFC panel equipped with a 6-Step PFC controller was installed next to the main distribution board (MDB) and connected to the MDB. The PFC unit improved the power factor to better than 0.98 which resulted in a reduced NMD and a cost-saving on the Eskom energy bill.

Zeekoegat WWTW Pump and Motor Repair Project
The scope of work for the Zeekoegat WWTW pump and motor failure call-out included the removal, rewinding, repair, installation and commissioning of an 11 kW electrical motor and centrifugal pump. Duplonix Electrical repaired the pump and motor within the Client’s requested time to restore operations to the site as quickly as possible and reduce downtime. Duplonix Electrical mobilized the standby team to assist the Client with the breakdown.
Pretoria
Residential PV Solar Project
The scope of work included the design, supply, installation and commissioning of a 6 kWp PV solar project. The project included a grid-tie Solis inverter, Canadian Solar PV modules, Renusol roof mounting structure, Solar distribution board, isolators, diesel generator changeover switch and all low voltage DC and AC cables and accessories. The PV system produces +/-800 kWh per month and offsets the Client’s electrical usage. The diesel generator provides backup power during load shedding and power outages.

Hospital 220 kVA Generator Installation
The scope of work included the installation, testing, and commissioning of a 220 kVA Cummins diesel generator at Brooklyn Life Hospital. The
scope also included all electrical low voltage cable installation work.
